Why do I need an LPA?

Loss of Mental Capacity

You could lose the ability to make decisions due to conditions like dementia, stroke, brain injury or illness.  An LPA ensures someone you can trust can act on your behalf.

Essential for Couples and Families

Spouses and children do not automatically get the right to make decisions on your behalf.  An LPA is legally required, even for close family to act.

Covers both Health and Finances

With two types of LPA - one for Property and Financial Affairs and one for Health and Welfare - you stay protected across all aspects of life.

You Choose who Makes Decisions

An LPA lets you decide who will act for you, rather than leaving it to the courts.

Supports Temporary Incapacity

Even short-term events like a an accident, coma or surgery can leave you unable to make decisions or access finances - an LPA ensures someone can step in immediately.

Plan Ahead with Certainty

Creating an LPA while you're mentally capable gives you peace of mind and full control over your future.  Like writing a Will or buying insurance, making an LPA is a proactive step to protect your wellbeing, assets and loved ones - regardless of age.

About LPA-Assist

At LPA Assist, we’re here to make setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) simple, accurate, and affordable. We’re not solicitors — and that’s the point.

Our focus is on getting the paperwork right and making sure your LPA application is completed properly, giving it the best chance of being accepted without costly delays or rejections.

LPA Assist was created after our founder’s parents faced a frustrating situation: they were quoted sky-high fees by solicitors, only to have their own attempt at completing the application rejected because of small, avoidable mistakes. That experience inspired us to build a service that helps people navigate the process correctly — without paying solicitor prices.

Nearly 51,000 applications were rejected due to errors in 2023/24.  That's why we specialise in the admin side of LPAs, carefully checking every detail to save you time, stress, and unnecessary expense. We offer clear, friendly guidance and a more affordable way to protect your future.

Let us take the pressure off — we’re here to help.

Our Services

Finance & Property LPA

The Financial LPA is used to give the attorneys the power to make decisions on your behalf about money or property.  This can include:

- paying your bills or any debt
- managing your bank account
- collecting any benefits or your pension
- selling your home
- dealing with HMRC or Local Authority

You can choose to either have this enacted immediately, or only when you lose capacity.

Health & Welfare LPA

The attorney will deal with your medical staff and social services care staff, as well as make decisions on your behalf over your personal welfare, day-to-day routine healthcare and medical treatment.

This can only be enacted after you have lost capacity and not before, unlike the other LPA.

How It Works

1. Place an Order

Click on ORDER NOW at top of the page.  Select which types of LPA you require (most people have both).  Fill in all the requested information and make your payment.

2. Check your email inbox

We will send you a PDF file via email which will have a list of all the information you'll need to have available for your telephone appointment.

We will contact you within 1 working day of your order to arrange a date and time for your telephone appointment.

4. Telephone appointment

The appointment should take around 30-45 minutes.  We will take all the data from you for your application form and any preferences you may have.

If you are a couple, then we will need both of you to be present for the call.

5. We post you the completed forms to sign

3. We will contact you to arrange the telephone appointment

The completed forms will be sent to you to check and sign.  Instructions regarding the signing order will be included.  Once signed YOU will be responsible for sending to the Office of the Public Guardian (we will include an addressed envelope, but you must arrange the postage).

6. You send the signed forms to The Office of the Public Guardian

Once the OPG have received your application, they will contact you with instructions on how to pay their fees.
